The ranking of the best business lawyers in Paris nominated by their peers.

The legal journal “Best Lawyers” arrives in France and in partnership with “Les Echos” issues for the first time a national ranking of the best legal business practitioners. This ranking highlights 19 lawyers from 10 French law firms and 8 foreign structures. Amongst these are some already well-known personalities such as; Jean-Denis Bredin and Jean-François Prat, two stars from the business world; Dominique Bompoint, fine expert in capital markets, corporate and fusions and acquisitions, the inevitable Christian Bouckaert in arbitration and mediation insurance; or even the criminal defence lawyer Olivier Metzner, the eminent patent litigation specialist Pierre Véron, Emmanuel Gaillard, one of the most renown in international arbitration and mediation, or finally Jean-Pierre Boivin, one of the strongest experts in environmental law in France.

“Best Lawyers”. Founded in 1981 by Steven Naifeh and Gregory White, two Harvard graduates, the legal guide “Best Lawyers” was published for the first time in the United States in 1983. A publication conducting peer review surveys where leading lawyers evaluate their professional peers. To establish their first French ranking, “Best Lawyers” asked international lawyers based in the United States to nominate the most famed professionals in France. These lawyers were then contacted by the publication and have given in their turn other professionals in their speciality. Each professional interviewed could, if wanted, give their opinion by telephone or electronically and give a score of 1 to 5. In total, 849 lawyers based in France gave 24057 “evaluations”. A voting process performed by 276 lawyers enabled the creation of a ranking of over 400 lawyers from 130 law firms on one hand and the identification of the best lawyers for 2010 on the other hand. The nomination process was undertaken during 6 months in 2009.
